In recent studies, Commonwealth Fund–supported researchers explored:

• barriers to submitting performance data to the Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes campaign;
• the links between nursing home staffing—in terms of both the number and types of employees—and quality of care;
• the relative importance of patient surveys and assessments of physician practice infrastructure in determining qualification to be patient-centered medical homes; and
• the impact of Medicare's policy limiting payment for hospital-acquired conditions on safety net providers.
