With health care reform surging to the top of the nation’s agenda, there is now a historic opportunity to achieve universal coverage as well as comprehensive health system reform. President Obama has identified health reform as a top priority this year and has underscored this commitment by allocating $634 billion to a Health Reform Reserve Fund in his federal budget proposal. Just as important, congressional committee leaders have announced their intention to report out health reform legislation before the August recess. This project will inform this year’s debate by producing timely and targeted analyses, including microsimulation modeling, of leading health reform legislation as it emerges.
